TV-Series "Team Deutschland – Die NDR Cartoon-Satire"

4k has been commissioned to produce "Team Deutschland" by the NDR, a German broadcaster. This weekly TV format will feature animated comedy about German politicians and other VIPs. In a first pilot stage the contract is for 7 episodes of 7 minutes each which will be produced and broadcast weekly from November 08 to January 09.

The main focus of this production will be on topical scripts and dialogues in connection with a stylized minimalistic 2D Flash animation. On the basis of caricatures of the respective protagonists, pre-fabricated stock model "puppet-like" flash-characters will be developed. This technology can be compared with 3D character set-ups. The dialogues will be recorded with famous German voice imitators (e.g. Elmar Brandt).

The show will pick up topics that have been in the news during the week previous to the show being broadcast which means that a substantial part of the animation will have to be done within a few days..

This production presents a big challenge for 4k, not only because of the budget constraints and the tight schedule as a result of the “topicality”. It will also constitute a milestone in animation, demonstrating that it is possible to produce an animated series with an extremely up-to-date content that has the potential of becoming a popular weekly format.
