After lots of initial fine-tuning, the main shooting started in India. Till 22nd December '06 the team will work on various locations in Bombay, Goa, Kerala und Hyderabad with luminaries such as Sean Patrick Flanery (CSI, Young Indiana Jones, Stephen King's Dead Zone, Stargate ...), Shannon Elizabeth (American Pie, Scary Movie ...), Jolene Blalock (Star Trek: Enterprise, CSI, JAG ...), Sheetal Sheth, Jackie Shroff and many other well-known faces. The 4k SFX supervision rests in good hands of Brian Jennings (Mindhunters, The Exorcist, Scary Movie, Driven, Mimic ...).

01/11/2006 > PROJECT UPDATE > "Crocoloco" - The Language Adventure

CrocoLoco is a very secret place which you can only find if you look hard enough. Because even though it exists only a stone's throw away from civilization, it is hidden and still undiscovered. There, Croco, the rainbow-crocodile, Zizzi, the dragonfly, and Mrs. Lester, the turtle live together as flatmates of sorts in a "Junk Yard." They each have their own personally decorated living space to look after. They may live together, but they quarrel a lot, rarely leave each other in peace and pick an each other's weaknesses. But like all friends, they do make up and are even nice to each other at times. The friends' only connection to the outside world is "The Crocophone". lt is Croco`s Best Invention made up of what he has found at the junk yard: old telephones, spare parts of TV-sets and Computers. With the Cocophone the three Croco Locos discover the children's world. They comment an what they see in English and thereby teach the child audience the foreign language in a playful way.

The first three episodes of this new serial for EM Entertainment GmbH have been completed. Crocoloco is a product of CrocYard Productions, in which 4k is a partner and shareholder.

4k received an interesting order for digital special effects for an Epson commercial. In short, 4k will have to create a virtual cat which advertises together with Wigald Boning for Epson's latest series of printers. "Quality of pictures matches reality" will not only be the slogan for the product, but the challenge for 4k as well.

And still multiple orders for 4k's digital special effects department keep pouring in. This time for X Filme Creative Pool GmbH Produktion, which requieres a digital jay, which needs to be constructed, animated and combined with real footage, a challenging project.

05/10/2006 > PROJECT UPDATE > "Benjamin Blümchen - Feiern mit Törööö"

Two new productions for advertisement celebrating the well-known elephant "Benjamin Blümchen's" 30th birthday have been contracted to 4k. Comprising a real film, 2D-, 3D-Animation and Compositing, it needs to snuggle into the kid's imagination from early next year onwards.

It's time to celebrate the next order for the 10th "Fruchttiger" ad. Of course with 3D-Animation and Compositing made by 4k. This time the "Fruchttiger" embarks on a treasure hunt deep in the jungle - and new adventures are looming around.

Soon after his return from India Stephan travelled to Bucharest (Romania) for on-set-supervision for the Sat.1-Fim "MANATU - Sag die Wahrheit" (AT). Manatu is a project of Hofmann & Voges Entertainment GmbH, thrilling and fascinating at the same time.

The story revolves around a "normal" family comprising 5 members with Laura (Susanna Simon) as mother, Mathias (Markus Knüfken) as father and their 3 children Ron (16) (Stefan Miess), Nikki (15) (Emilia Schüle) and Betty (7) (Kara Mc Sorley).

Caught in their day-to-day affairs, the family almost forgot the underlying principle of being a family. Till Laura's 39th birthday, the day when her brother-in-law Mark (Pasquale Aleardi), a runaway from society and settled on a small island in the Pacific near New Zealand, sends an antic game board called "Manatu".

Although nobody really likes to play, the family wants to please little Betty and starts the game. And Manatu keeps its hidden promise of being a real Multimedia talent, beaming beautiful holograms to the ceiling and into the drawing room. Soon, however, fun turns more serious when the game board starts interfering into everybody's life, preventing the participants to stop playing, punishing the guilty-of-lies hard and even threatening the sinner with death. In this situation only one option remains with the family: join hands and beat Manatu.

Stress in Los Angeles? Of course. Yet there was enough time for Jan to finally marry his long-time sweetheart and fiancée Katrin - in Las Vegas, just like in the movies. Three cheers to all well-wishers and thanks for all the toasters, coffee-makers and singing greeting-cards.

10/08/2006 > PROJECT UPDATE > Second Unit starts for "First Fear"

The production get's rolling. The first Second Unit shoots are being shot on various locations in Southern India. Stephan personally supervised not only hundreds of warriors, slaves and sandstorms, but also ensured it's success. And a success it was. Apart, of course, from a horse which entered Nirvana and Ben who's been bitten by a dog - unfortunately a German shepherd. Nevertheless ... Ben is back on duty. The next Second Unit shoots will be in the mountains behind Los Angeles. The cast are wild tigers. With a strong hand behind, of course. It will be Randy Miller, who's fame rests on brilliant scenes with tigers for films such as Gladiator, Last Samurai and similar success-stories.

4k has been handed over the task of producing all special effects for "Free Rainer" in Berlin by Hans Weingartner ("Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei"). Shooting will continue till 29th October with sets in Berlin, Vienna and Brandenburg. "Free Rainer" featuring Moritz Bleibtreu as lead actor is been produced by kahuuna films (Berlin) & Coop99 (Vienna). Moritz Bleibtreu as Rainer depicts a successful but burned-out producer of well-received TV-Shows who decides to change his life soon after an unsuccessful attempt to murder him.

Marvi Hämmer presents National Geographic World's second round in continuation of this highly successful TV series for children. 4k completed its job in record time and delivered numerous hours 3D and 2D Animation on schedule.

Great Reception in Berlin for First Fear. The final screenplay has been released, detailed talks on visual effects started. And wellknown support has arrived: Alison O`Brian, who successfully worked for famous production such as Resident Evil, Vanilla Sky, Mission Impossible, Zoolander, Scary Movie, Lost in Space, has announced her intention to join.

4k has been offered to handle all special effects for the latest TV-Movie "Dina". Producer of this promising project is NDF - neue deutsche filmgesellschaft mbh. The modern fairytale features Dina (Jeanette Biedermann), a very pretty genie, often, however, out-of-hand. The genie's master, Jonas Schiller (Patrick Bach), a lovable but chaotic character, works in the marketing department of a manufacturer of sports goods, Despite best intention, Dina just turns Jonas life upside down ....

4k is glad to engage Jeremy Tebbett as Managing Director of 4k´s UK and worldwide operations. Jeremy Tebbett, is British from the Northwest of England. Previously CFO of Zeneca and subsequently Sygenta operations in India and Indonesia. Jeremy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biophysics and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Jeremy has more than 20 years experience in business including periods as Managing Director of various companies in the UK, consultancy work with Coopers & Lybrand and many, many years experience of working in India.

4k has been chosen to be solely responsible for creating approximately 30 minutes of digital special effects for the multi-million Dollar Hollywood production "First Fear". To add a new dimension in international cooperation and competitiveness, 4k therefore teamed up with Nipuna - Satyam's BPO setup in India for CGI and FX.

"First Fear" is an international co-production based upon a thrilling script by Hollywood writer/director Paul Nicholas. Filmed in US, Europe and India for a budget of approximately $US 25 million, this highly interesting and commercially viable project will be ready for delivery in spring 2007. First Fear is an action-packed Fantasy Film about a brave king in ancient India who made a Faustian deal with the Devil to protect his people from death and destruction by the marauding troops of Alexander the Great, about to invade his kingdom. Two thousand years later, he lives reincarnated as a successful mystery writer in New York. When the Devil knocks on his door to claim his soul, a desperate struggle for survival ensues. Human strength and wit are pitted against the devils forces of darkness. This movie, in the vein of The Mummy and Scorpion King featuring exciting Visual Effects and an American star cast, will entertain a broad audience around the world.
