23/11/2004 > Emmy-Award for “Lolle”

The TV series “Berlin, Berlin” has picked up an Emmy-Award for the best comedy show at the 32. International Emmy-Awards Show in New York. Further information is available on our project site.


12/11/2004 > Silver for “Marvi” in Beijing

“Marvi Hämmer presents the National Geographic World” has won a silver dragon award at the Bejing International Scientific Films Festival.

01/10/2004 > Visual Effects for two new TV productions

4k is in the process of developing the visual effects for two new TV productions.
Clients: Tatfilm for SWR and NFP for ZDF. Detailed information will soon be available.


01/09/2004 > “Marvi Hämmer” now on air on ZDF and WDR

“Marvi Hämmer presents the National Geographic World” is now being broadcast on ZDF on Sundays at 8:35 am. The first twenty episodes went on air on September 5th and will be broadcast thru December 2004. For those children who would like to hear the program in English a secondary channel is optional. For die-hard fans of Marvi a new range of audio books has just been published. Further information is available on our project site.

Production of commercials for the Christmas season has been in full swing since August. Details will be available after the respective spots have gone on air.


01/06/2004 > New FruitTiger commercials on air in June 2004

New FruitTiger commercials - a further successful cooperation between 4k and little green bag, Hamburg. The new version of the 20 second commercial “Sportscap Temple” goes on air in June. FruitTiger's new sponsoring format for Art Attack and Junior TV was a complete success and the next commercial in this format also goes on air in June. 4k, in cooperation with little green bag, Hamburg have just completed the 2 x 7 second sponsoring commercial “Sportscap TV”. 4k was responsible for the 3D elements, TV screen and composite and little green bag for the 2D animation and backgrounds.


24/05/2004 > Marvi comes in first in the animago 2004

The 4k project “Marvi Hämmer presents National Geographic World” has come in first in the animago-award 2004 in the category professional/animation/TV series. 4K was delighted and would like to thank all the contributing artists. Special thanks go to:

The animated short film award, co-sponsored by 4k, was awarded to:
“the dog who was a cat inside” by Siri Melchior as the best animated short film.
This audience price was awarded at the 2004 britspotting independent film festival
in Berlin. 4k warmly congratulates the laureate and wishes
all the success for the future.


01/05/2004 > 4k supports independent short film “Blackford Stories”

4k provides funding and high end equipment for S. Andreas Dahn's mystery short film “The Maid from Hilltop Manor”, with Birgit Stauber (RTL TV series “Wilde Engel”) in the title role. This is the second film of the “Blackford Stories” series. The first film was acknowledged at the Animago Award 2003 for its stylized visual effects. 01/04/2004 > Greenpeace – “Carnivore” on air

The new Greenpeace TV spot with the topic „Stop poison and gene technology in food“ is now on air. 4K produced the 3D animated spot for TBWA Advertising Agency, Berlin. Pictures and production details are available in our project area.


15/03/2004 > 4K Competition submissions for the animago-award

4K is participating in this year’s animago-award with two contributions. “Marvi Hämmer” in the category „professional/animation/TV series“ and „Toad“ in the category “professional/animation/advertising & TV spots.


07/03/2004 > “Marvi Hämmer” on air at Ki.Ka.

”Marvis Hämmer presents National Geographic World“ is now being broadcast on the Children’s Channel on Sundays at 7 pm. The first twenty episodes will be broadcast until July 2004 and then repeated on the ZDF starting in autumn 2004.

After having launched a German version of its children's publication “National Geographic World”, “Youa” has developed a new multi-media format to help German children learn English while discovering some of the world's most interesting facts in science and culture. The main part of the package is a TV series called “Marvi Hämmer presents National Geographic World” with an internet site bearing the same name. The mascot of both is the cartoon character, Marvi Hämmer, a cute rat with a nose for interesting topics.

4K is supporting this year’s „britspotting“ film festival as a partner and sponsor. In addition to many other interesting activities, 4K is organizing a workshop on “animation and digital special effects” on the 10th of May. Further information can be obtained at www.britspotting.de.


01/02/2004 > TV-Spot “FruchtTiger - Magic Orange” on air

TV commercial „FruitTiger – Magic Orange“ now on air. The new FruitTiger commercial is now on air. 4K was commissioned by little green bag film production in Hamburg to do the 3D animation and compositing. Pictures and production details are available in our project area.


01/02/2004 > Lexx-season 4 now available on DVD

The fourth season of the science fiction cult TV series is now at last available on DVD. In the course of the last two years, a team of animators from 4K supervised the production of special effects in Halifax, Canada for a successful 26 episode TV series, now being broadcast world-wide.


29/01/2004 > Marvi Hämmer is nominated for the Grimme-Award

Marvi Hämmer, animated by 4K, a 3D animated rat with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and English speaking friends, has gained recognition. The renowned Grimme-Institute has nominated the children’s TV magazine “Marvi Hämmer presents the National Geographic World” for the Adolf-Grimme-Award in the category “information and culture – documentary film/TV journalism/feature/essay. The awards that are presented by the institute at a celebratory gala on the 3rd of April in the theatre in Marl are given for TV performances and productions that could constitute role models for the media.
